Rider Training Learn
to Ride Motorcycle Training was developed with you in mind. First time on a bike? No problem, we specialize in the New Rider.
Before training on a motorcycle though, bicycle riding experience is essential. The first step a new rider needs to take is to obtain
their Class 6/8 Learner's Licence. You can find the information you need through this link: ICBC - getting your licence
Classroom (theory) is where you’ll learn the rules of the road, special conditions you
need to be aware of, how a motorcycle works and a lot more useful information pertaining to motorcycle riding.
Practical Training is in a closed parking lot where you will learn how to operate your motorcycle, learn
to ride and maneuver at slow speeds and learn emergency skills and techniques.
Road Riding will
consist of riding in different traffic situations. You will experience in-town traffic, residential roads, highway and back
roads. We will be training rain or shine, so please be prepared for the weather (it is a good experience to learn
to ride in the rain!)
The ICBC Motorcycle Skills Test may be waived upon successful completion
of the Approved Course and Motorcycle Skills Assessment. Your Road Test can be taken 30 days after aquiring your learner's licence
and meeting all qualifications of the Motorcycle Skills Assessment. You will find a date at the bottom of your learner's
licence indicating when you are clear to challenge the Road Test with ICBC. Cost of the Road Test is $50.00 and $17.00
to have your licence reprinted, payable to ICBC.
There will be coffee breaks and lunch breaks throughout the course.
You have the option of either bringing your own lunch or purchasing your lunch at a nearby cafeteria.
Students
need to supply their Class 6 learner's licence, appropriate riding apparel which includes a long sleeved coat, denim pants,
gloves and boots that cover your ankle (no steel toed boots or high-top sneakers).
Full-faced DOT
helmets are mandatory during training. We supply helmets for you during the course if you don't have your own.
Please
remember to bring plenty of water. Also, make sure you get plenty of sleep during your training, learning to
ride a motorcycle takes a lot of energy, both physically and mentally!
